How we do school differently

Our Waipahu pbHTA students were blessed with a morning at Mokauea, one of the tiny islands in Ke‘ehi Lagoon. Visiting with the non-profit Mauliola Ke‘ehi, they practiced being grounded in place, culture, history, and their own breath. With awesome teamwork, they paddled across to the moku and spent an idyllic hour exploring the reef life — meeting eels (puhi), tasting the limu, and patting sea cucumbers (loli). Mahalo to Aunty Kēhaulani and @mauliola_keehi for an amazing experience.
Waipahu's Sierra M. brought fun, games, and soccer to our Ewa Beach kindergarteners while fulfilling her community service project for the National Honor Society. Creds to Sara A. for the video :)
Congratulations Maria M. and Ezekiel B. who just won state and international honors in the World of 8 Billion International Student Video contest. They made their video about food waste in Ms. Francis' world history class. Please watch!
The Waipahu Peace Studio is the result of much planning and work from students on our Safe Space Committee. They have created a calming place on campus where students can relax and unwind.
And the award goes to ... HTA's Mia and Kiara! Their Action Sports Editing video scooped first place at the prestigious 2023 STN Convention. Hats off to our entire Waipahu media team and their producer, Ms. Morita.
What's it like to attend HTA? Just watch this awesome video that our Kauai campus created using the 1 Second Everyday app.
Our Kauai 8th graders recently visited Makauwahi Cave and learned about the rich layers of geological, natural, and Hawaiian history.
Waipahu's sharp shootin' media team ain't messin' around at the Student Television Network convention in Long Beach.

I’ve been meaning to send a quick note regarding HTA’s resilience and collaboration during this pandemic. How our campus community reached out to partner with Mid-Pacific Institute (this was mentioned in one of the Director’s newsletters) as we all transitioned to virtual learning, warmed my heart and reinforced our love for HTA.

Later, reading about the collaboration with HTA and Mid-Pacific faculty to transition students to the online curriculum was the second confirmation that HTA is one of the leading schools that is ahead of the mark and provides quality education platforms for our children. So much so, other institutions saw the value to partner during this crisis.

Now, with the offer of pbHTA, you are again thinking outside of the box and developing innovative ways to teach our children, and most importantly, creating safe spaces for our children to continue to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting to ease parents’ anxiety as we live through the “new normal”. HTA is the leading educational institution and everyone should hear about the work that you do.

We thank all of you for your dedication and forward thinking, all of which benefits our children

You were our bright spot and best good news! Kupuna and everyone responded with happy wishes and were impressed with HTA's creativity, applying tech to bring everyone together, and commitment to excellence even in difficult times.
