Student Spotlight:
Thiessen Wright
HTA Oahu, Grade 9

Hawaii Technology Academy is excited to celebrate Thiessen Wright (HTA Oahu, grade 9). Thiessen’s Junior Varsity Football Team won the OIA D2 JV Championship with an undefeated league record! As an incoming freshman, Thiessen was humbled to help his football team as a starting Outside Linebacker. In recognition of their success, Councilmember Brandon Elefante led the effort to have Thiessen’s team recognized by the Honolulu City Council!

For Thiessen, the highlight of the season was the daily opportunity to experience high school life as a football player. He enjoyed experiences such as practice at the stadium, the  homecoming game and festivities, and making new friends.

Thiessen and his father, Kaipo, shared that “being at HTA allowed us to maximize use of available time to calmly navigate the demanding schedule of learning, practices, and life while preserving a healthy balance that included much-needed rest/recovery, recreation, and quality time with friends and family.”

Congratulations, Thiessen! Your HTA Ohana is very proud of you!
