‘EWA BEACH CAMPUS
Thanks for stopping by. Please take a look around to see how we do school differently on the ‘Ewa Beach campus. We are proud of our supportive culture and our two programs: blended and place-based HTA.
A few things that make ‘Ewa Beach awesome
Simply the best.
We have an awesome range of enrichment classes available before and after regular school hours. Students can try their hand at Little Ninjas, media club, robotics, Chinese Immersion, Chinese dance, and Little Bricks.
Stop by the Honu free library to browse the books and take them home if you like. The books are yours to keep. This library was gifted to us by Waipahu high school students in the Pacific & Asian Affairs Council club.
We are so excited for our new garden beds. This is a peaceful spot on campus and each class has its own plot where they can plant and grow.
Our Field Studies are when students get out and apply their learning in the real world. Among other things, our students have sampled citrus at Lokoea Farms, learned about O‘ahu’s freshwater resources at the Hālawa xeriscape garden, met compost worms and planted seedlings at Keiki and Plow, explored a freshwater ecosystem, made artistic clay tiles, and worked in the lo‘i and learned about invasive species at Kualoa Ranch. We learn by doing.
OUR BUTTERFLY TREES
We have crown flower plants so we are in constant awe as caterpillars hatch and eat and grow and spin into their chrysalises and emerge as butterflies. Repeat.
We have an active parent group — our HTA ‘Ohana Committee (HOC) — which partners with students and staff to organize fun events throughout the year when the entire school community comes together to celebrate and play. These include movie nights and one of the most boo-tiful Halloween celebrations around.
pbHTA is one of our two ‘Ewa Beach programs.
It has a separate enrollment and schedule from our regular blended program.
Place-based HTA is at the leading edge of our innovation as students dive deeper into project-based learning out in the field. Students’ academic material is covered as they tackle real-world problems while working at our community partner sites around the island.
What are our pbHTA students up to?

I have been an educator in Hawai‘i for over 20 years. I became an educator to help create spaces where all students belong and are accepted. I believe that learning can happen at any time and in any space and should not be confined to the walls of a classroom. After graduating from the University of Hawai’i, I spent many years as a technology coordinator at Sunset Beach Elementary before moving into administration at Kahuku Elementary, Sunset Beach Elementary, and Ka‘imiloa Elementary. When not in school, you may find me on the baseball field, at the beach, or relaxing with a good book. This is my first year with HTA and I am excited to get to know and work with our HTA community.
