Elementary School

Welcome to HTA Elementary School!
Grades K-5

An integral part of our program is our partnership with our Learning Coaches who support and enable us to provide the best education for our students. Building strong relationships with our students and families is essential not only to the success of the program, but also to the success of our students.

HTA’s Cores of Collaboration, Character, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity are embedded throughout all lessons. We believe these Cores promote academic excellence, as well as the development of important social and emotional skills.
At HTA, our highly qualified teachers encourage a love of learning from the very start of our students’ academic journey. Our blended learning model allows for meaningful learning experiences through face-to-face instruction, virtual, guided lessons, and exciting field studies.

Curriculum and Instruction

CURRICULUM
As a public charter school, HTA teaches the Hawaii Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and Hawaii Core Standards for Social Studies (HCSSS). The Hawaii Common Core Standards is not a curriculum, but rather the collection of standards that define what each student should understand or be able to complete at each grade level.
INSTRUCTION
The instructional learning platform for students
in grades K-5 is Lincoln Empowered. Teachers create their own authentic lessons, activities, and assessments to supplement the online curriculum. The elementary program at HTA has a strong commitment to fostering each child’s intellectual, emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and cultural growth within a rich environment and a stimulating environment. Students will have opportunities to learn through Project-Based Learning (PBL) and be able to exhibit their learning through a variety of ways and audiences.

  • Lincoln Empowered Online Curriculum
  • Other Online Curriculum Sources
  • Teacher-Created Activities
  • Virtual Classes

Activities and Events

HTA takes a "whole child" approach to educating our students. Beyond academics, enrichment opportunities enable students to develop social and emotion skills integral to demonstrating HTA's Core Values of Collaboration, Communication, Critical thinking, Creativity, and Character.

Field studies and clubs are abundant at HTA. We strive to offer a monthly experiential learning opportunity that include social and educational activities.

HTA offers a variety of extra-curricular clubs and enrichment opportunities that target a variety of student interests.
