Harvesting kalo with Aloha Aina

Our Kaua‘i middle school students joined Kumano I Ke Ala at the Aloha Aina Poi Company to harvest kalo and learn about Hawaiian culture. The kalo they gathered was later pounded and prepared for distribution. In class with Mr. Loudon, students have been studying the ahupua‘a and the systems that helped Hawaiians thrive. They've also talked about the food that is shipped into Hawai‘i and the benefits of locally grown foods.
