IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES
REQUIRED learning coach TRAINING - new & returning families
You, as a Learning Coach, play an invaluable role in your child's academic life. You will work closely with teachers to ensure your child is receiving the guidance and support they need to succeed. We love our Learning Coaches! To help support you in your role, we have developed these orientation sessions.
All new Learning Coaches are expected to attend both LC 101 and LC 102. All returning Learning Coaches should attend LC 102. ‘Oahu pbHTA and NuVuX families also have additional orientation sessions
Learning Coach 101 An introduction to HTA, our school information platform, HonuHub, and the role of LearningCoaches. New LearningCoaches may participate in these sessions virtually or face-to-face. Learning Coach 102 This is for all new and returning Learning Coaches and is an introduction to our curriculum platform, Canvas. We are excited to start the year with this new platform, which unites all of our curricular resources on one easy-access platform. This training will be conducted virtually only. Please note: this is also required for new pbHTA and NuVuX families.

how to access + use the parent portal in honuhub
Congratulations on becoming a Learning Coach. Now that you have successfully enrolled, you can access the main parent dashboard of HonuHub. This is our primary communication portal that you'll use on a daily basis for everything HTA. Among other things on the dashboard are the Student Announcements, which include important information for your campus, so it's important to check in regularly.
connecting with other hta learning coaches
LEARNING COACH DIRECTORY Meet other HTA parents Building community is so important. Our Learning Coach Directory helps you make connections, learn from other LCs, and organize carpools for school and Field Study days. Please join the directory so you can be in touch with other parents. You will find it in the parent dashboard in HonuHub.
HTA's 'OHANA COMMITTEES Our 'Ohana Committees, known as our HOCs, are committees of awesome parents who provide support to our campuses, similar to a PTA. Joining an HOC committee is a great way to connect with other parents, brainstorm fun ideas, and bring joyful events to keiki statewide.
HTA uses PayPal for the Student Fee, computer loan program deposit, Field Studies, clubs, reimbursements etc. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can create one using this link. Also, don't forget to go to HonuHub to pay the Student Fee for this school year.
lunch
HTA does not provide lunch at any grade level. If your student has a designated lunch time on their schedule, please be sure they bring their lunch. We encourage the use of a recyclable container.
Students have the use of a microwave on every campus, but sometimes there is a line, so we do encourage cold lunches if and when possible. High school students have the privilege of leaving campus during their lunch period; however, this is a privilege, and if students do not return in time for their Advisory session or next class, this privilege will be revoked.
IMPORTANT P-EBT NOTICE: The Charter School Commission has confirmed that, because HTA does not actually provide lunch for students, our students would not be eligible to receive P-EBT. The only exception may be if they had a "Direct Certification" status with the state which overrides the former. HTA does offer parents who would otherwise qualify for free lunch to fill out our application for reduced fees to help subsidize school fees such as the student fee, computer loan program, Field Studies, etc. However, we do not receive school lunch funding to provide this benefit.
