Welcome! The HTA Oahu Elementary School team aims to teach, model, and encourage a love of learning and collaboration. Our highly qualified teachers are dedicated to delivering personalized instruction through HTA’s blended learning model. To us, blended learning means that students are engaged in purposeful learning experiences by way of face-to-face classes with teachers, guided lessons with a parent Learning Coach, field trips, and virtual classes.
Curriculum
As a state public school, HTA teaches Common Core State Standards. These standards are designed to prepare students for college and career readiness. Common Core is not the curriculum, but is the collection of standards that define what each student should understand or be able to do at each grade level. The curriculum used to deliver instruction varies amongst grade levels and content areas. Instruction
Instruction at HTA is delivered in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, virtual, and online instruction. Face-to-face instruction at HTA includes: whole group instruction, small group instruction, collaborative activities, labs, and much more. The same modes of instruction can be applied in the virtual instruction setting. Teachers use Adobe Connect as a platform for delivering virtual instruction. Online instruction at HTA includes teacher-created lessons, activities and assessments, and teacher-selected online lessons using K12 and other online platforms. Students also take part in independent learning, through the guidance of a parent Learning Coach and support from a certified teacher. |
HTA takes a "whole child" approach to educating our students. Beyond academics, a buffet of weekly Enrichment opportunities enable students to develop social and emotion skills integral to demonstrating HTA's Core Values of Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Character.
In addition to weekly Enrichment classes, Field trips and club opportunities are abundant at HTA. HTA offers a variety of extra-curricular clubs opportunities that target a variety of student interests. |
